The only advantage I give the M3 over the 997 is the engine. The 997 is much more raw and engaging than the 997. The steering in a 997 feels like your hands are on the tierods themselves, while the E92 M3s steering at low speeds feels over boosted and somewhat disconnected which goes away at speed. It is much louder than the E92 M3 and the car even with the PASM in normal is stiffer than my E92 ZCP car with the EDC on full sport. The issue for me with the 997 is due to this rawness is what made it a terrible daily driver, thats why I sold it.

I had a full day with my bro's '08 911 today...and I stand corrected; the 911 is definitely more visceral than the ///M3. Aside from the steering issues at low speeds, the DCT seems a bit lagging. The 911 engine is ear-piercingly loud---sounds like a jet turbine, not to mention functional cup holders! I parked in front of a local Starbucks along side my other bro's '09 650i and one thing is certain, the 911 gravitates ALL the attention. The natural progression from the M3 to the 911 for me is about 2.5 years away....at least until the kids' college funds are paid for.

I test drove C2S today... wasn't really planning to but stopped by to take a look at boxter spyder..
7500 miles with chrono package plus and navi... for $59,700...
I gave up thought about getting C2S for it was out of my budget range, but at 60k used... hmm.. now I'm in dilemma...

My 2 boys aged 5 & 8 at the time fit real nice in the 997. The issue for me is when I had to show property one day to a single lady I told her I have a 911, she responds with "Oh, I love Porsches." I pick her up on time and with her is this amazon woman that is over 6" tall, I asked "you remember, I have a 911..she's not going to fit in the back." I had to go home and get my wifes car...a 2007 Ford Focus ZX5 SE..basically a 4dr. hatchback. I realized right there that if I could only have one car for me..not 2 like I had, the 911 would have to go.

IMHO the cars shouldn't even be compared..I know that seems like the natural progression for people who have owned an M3. However, I missed my E46 M3 and hence the E92 M3.

I love my car..

If I had to buy a Porsche all over again, I would definitely buy used. You can get a garage queen that sat in a garage most of its life with well under 10k miles for huge discounts from MSRP. These cars depereciate terribly..my $90K MSRP car in 3 years sold for $54k., depreciating 40% in 3 years.

Also, options on Porsches don't fetch nada or close to nada on resale. You can option out a 997S to be well over 100k and you would be lucky if it fetches a little more than a base 997S
