Default Project Dakar

Recently picked up a Dakar E36 M3 that I bought to use as a track car. Car is all stock minus exhaust and a strut bar.

Plan to slowly start modding it and getting used to the E36 platform.

Update: June 23, 2019: Car recently got new wheels/tires/5 speed swap.

Track season in Arizona is a few months away and will then receive some new brake pads/fluid and plan to track the car as is.

Anyone know a site to upload pics? The "Manage attachments" tab is not working and Imgur is not either.

Flickr has been great for me and a lot of forum members. Looking forward to seeing more pics and more details on this find!

I'm going to play Devil's Advocate for a sec...

Do you really think taking an almost completely stock E36 in a sought after color and turning it into a track car is a good idea?

I'm not suggesting that the E36 will be a classic similar to the E30, but with the insane rise in value of the E30 in recent years, it seems like this could be a better investment than a toy.

I would suggest picking up a beat up or lesser quality car for a track car and keep this one as is. Based on the one available shot, it looks to be pretty clean.

Either way, cool car and good luck on what ever you do with it.

Gee, maybe he wants to have fun rather than twiddle his thumbs speculating how much his car is worth.

You know, fun. Like manual shifting, sex, drugs, great music. You know, the things people don't do any more.

I would just have fun with a car that was not so pristine. He can do what he wants. It was just something to think about.

Pretty cool car. I definitely could understand wanting to keep it for investment but that about takes all the fun out of having the car. It is always nice to start with a solid platform to begin a track build rather than a ratty pile that requires constant investigation to get to the same foundation.

Nothing wrong with having a clean track car.
