motorsport24.de makes a CF airbox for the S65... I want one badly. I can only imagine how it sounds given how good stock is.

It sounds beastly. But so is the cost.

The one I saw was over 4000 Euros. Don't know what the other kits are, but there's a reason they are so rare. That's way too rich for my blood. But here's some other car p0rn:

That's about the price of a used OEM CSL airbox, or half of new

Owned both. 2004 E46, and now 2009 E90. Really loved both cars.

E46: liked the engine/exhaust note, the light and agile feel of the car, and the overall look. Didn't like the roughness of the ride as I was living somewhere with terrible roads.

E90: like the DCT even though I thought I wouldn't as I am a fan of manual transmissions but in traffic you can't beat it, the V-8 (awesome), the versitility of 4 doors, more refined ride over the bumps. Don't like the heavier feel of the car but it is a sedan so I can't complain to much.

Forced to choose between the two I would have to say that it would depend on my mood. If I wanted to go out and thrash around to get the heartrate going I would take the E46, if wanted to go out for a leisurely, although spirited, drive then the E90. Either way you just can't beat what you get with these cars.

From 6-8000rpm the CSL box on a cammed s54 sounds very similar to the F1, and I dont think that is blasphemy at all. The F1 just having more revs - that come WAY faster because of the power/weight of that car and - more volume. We should run two CSLs next to each other and video the intake noise from outside the car. Probably sounds like an F1

Not saying it is the same...but it is similar. You just need a quiet exhaust. ALL you hear in the cabin on the F1 is intake because it sits RIGHT behind your head.

The difference on the F1 is on the exhaust. That thing just RIPS from the outside! I was at a trackday where there was one they ripped around the track, I have some cheap initial digi cam videos of it somewhere. Just absolutely incredible exhaust noise. Sounded like a true F1 car. edit: I actually got to sit in this car in the paddock when it started idled. Pretty sweet. I have a bunch of picture of it. Guy sold it to get a Zonda...(dumb)
