Default Chach's DIY Porsche 996 BBK Conversion extensive write up

The real killer is the cost of the CSL/ZCP rotors.

It can be done efficiently though if you look for deals. Here is where I'm at... For the record, I only intended to to do fronts, originally, but I got the full set of calipers for a steal, so I may utilize them.

Fronts only

$100 2x front calipers
$200 RR Brackets
$450 CSL Rotors
$30 Machining
$88 Textar front pads
$15 Paint + Decals
--------------------
$883

Rears add:

$70 for calipers
$110 for p0lar brackets
$70 for pads
-------------------
~$250 (my current rotors are still good)

If you don't mind going with non-OE seals, you can do better. The Centric/Stoptech rebuild kit is $17 per corner, so $68 for all four. Most Porsche calipers that I've handled do not need rebuilds, but it's nice to do if you have to disassemble them for powdercoating anyway. I was quoted $150 for powdercoating all four calipers from a local business that does excellent work. That is with me removing the pistons prior to drop off, though.

I chose to simply paint mine however and they turned out great.

Wow, you got the calipers for an absolute steal! If you don't mind me asking, where'd you get them from? I can't find the fronts alone for under ~$400.

I must have gotten lucky, I ordered all my RR stuff, shipped my calipers to them for machining, and got everything back I think it was just under two weeks from order to finish.

I literally just came into the house from bedding the brakes, it's been an adventure. I will tally it all up but it's definitely not a budget swap anymore. Maybe prices have gone up haha. I didn't even rebuild my calipers, I planned to but after seeing the condition of everything after tearing them down I decided to reuse. I'll post my tally later haha.

I have this setup. I've put less than 500 miles on them. So far so good. The rear p0lar brackets did give me a little clearance issue which I resolved myself. Overall they look amazing and perform great.

I don't think that's a realistic everyday price for Brembos.

Agree with this, power coating should be inexpensive. I got two front callipers blasted and power coated satin black (I removed the pistons) for less than $60.

Right, I was just sharing my cost.

But to your point, yes- definitely not the normal market rate by any means. There are deals to be had if you keep your eyes open, though! I'd only been looking for two days when I found those.
