It's the same one used to operate the throttle actuator.

The flap is always open or close, but that's only because BMW programmed it that way. They could have made it operate more like a throttle body if they chose to do so.
Thank you Terra. BTW I did have that info on the Freescale chip (from you on a PM). Much appreciated. My question is kinda OT anyway because my implementation is a bit different.

Hi Ejaz.

Awesome thread, as always, mate and you've got my attention.

My car presently has CSL headers, OE CSL airbox complete with unused brand new flap & motor and MSS54HP DME so this could be a very interesting mod.

I'm not sure if anyone has done this over here in the UK so information regarding modifying the DME to include the bridge and loading OE CSL maps may not be readily available.

Do keep us posted fella.

Mate this is easily possible. You have all the right parts. Let me know if you need help with it and it's easy to get sorted.

Default Re: OEM CSL MAP/IAT/FLAP Wiring

So I was poking around with my multimeter a bit, and it looks like X60003/Pin 16 and X60004/Pin 35 are both unused grounds on the MSS5x -- I think it'd be easier to just use those points rather than splice

I haven't found any unused +5v sources though, so some splicing is still necessary

So this is my plan of attack:

Map Sensor:
Pin 1 -> X60003/Pin 7 (tap into bundle inside wire box)
Pin 2 -> X60003/Pin 16 (Ground)
Pin 3 -> X60003/Pin 18 (Signal)

IAT:
Pin 1 -> X60003/Pin 22 (Signal)
Pin 2 -> X60004/Pin 35 (Ground)

Flap Position Sensor:
Pin 1 -> X60003/Pin 17 (Ground -- Reuse MAF wire)
Pin 2 -> X60003/Pin 1 (Signal -- Reuse MAF wire)
Pin 3 -> X60003/Pin 7 (+5V -- Reuse MAF wire)

Flap Actuator:
Pin 1 -> X60002/Pin 8
Pin 2 -> X60002/Pin 9

This way you do minimal splicing. I'm reusing the MAF wires for the flap position sensor since it's in the right location and uses SLK contacts like the flap position connector (so shouldn't even have to recrimp).

Yeah we saw that too, I just wanted everything to go in the way BMW did it on the CSL

So the Map wiring is actually routed through the ignition coils harness?

Amazing work Terra. I cringed at the thought of splicing/cutting my wiring loom and was even looking at buying an OEM loom to ease my conscience.

Could you please expand on SLK contacts. I've googled it without success.

Many thanks for your continued input.

On a real CSL, it looks like it's routed through the injector harness. I'm probably going to run it across the back of the engine into the DME box though, at least for now.
