Default all the different e36m seats

So I know there are obviously vaders, "regular", and lux seats. I'm trying to figure out the difference between the lux and the regular seats that come with the e36 m3

I believe options were Sports seats (Vaders) or lux seats. If you didn't spec vaders you got lux seats, the more "square" headed seats. In a choice of cloth materials or leather.

Lux seats = Sport seats.

Sport seats came with the Lux package and people started to call them Lux seats erroneously. (like calling all versions of the MID OBC).

It's either sport seats or 'Vaders' for the M3.

‘Fold’ back Sports ( Coupe/Convertible/ti)vs the Sedan fixed back Sports.

Sedan seats recline but don’t ‘fold’. ‘Fold’ back Sport seats fold forward to allow access to back seat of Coupe / Convertible / ti .

They all tilt. The tilt is the function where backrest+cushion move as one.

The rear passenger access is the folding function.

If we want to go into detail, all seats have the fold function, they just omitted the handle/cable for sedan’s. But seats frames all have the fold mechanics. It wouldn’t make sense designing a separate frame just for removing this function.

And to add to that, all seatframes are identical (apart from manual/electric adjustment obviously) and the MY95 frame change (but still identical for all seat models).

So whether you have the basic seats, sport seats or M3 coupe ‘Vaders’, all that is different is the foam and because of that, the leather skin. You can swap all cushions and backrest around at will and create frankenstein hybrids.

Vader headrest will also fit sportseats but will push in the foam on upper backrest.

Do you guys know of any good DIYs for switching the leather cushions around? Just got a clean set of cushions from a sedan and need to swap them out into my coupe driver seat.
