I'm working on it, today, actually! My goal is to have the new board design to the PCB Fab house by the end of this week.

The system will complain if you've already submitted a pre-order using the email address provided, so that's a good way to check if you're already on the list

Well, I have been hard at work on this project! I've been addressing some areas where long term reliability may be an issue, mainly the fact that I've had two instances of the USB connector coming right off the PCB (pad came off the FR4, rather than the connector coming off the pad). I was going to address this by adding additional supports around the connector from the case, but instead I've decided to go with Molex 476420001 which has through hole legs, making it impossible for it to snap off the board.

I've also got a breakout for the audio amp I'll be using to push hands-free calls to the system, and that tested extremely well. Though the CD Changer pushes line level audio to the amp, the telematics unit pushes amplified (~2W) audio as this signal is sometimes directly driving a 2 ohm "secondary driver" in early E39 models.

I've made all these changes in the board schematic, and I've already begun laying everything back out.

Well, Rev C is ready for the fab house!

I'm going to submit it tomorrow night EDT, so it should be here sometime early next week. I like to keep my design around for a day just in case I have any bright ideas for changes I want to make.

Here's the new layout, for those of you playing along at home:
