Default 2004 Silver Grey M3 - SMG - Dallas TX - Options

Hello everyone!

I was not planning on this but I would like to sell my 2004 Silver Grey M3. This has been my daily over the last 18 months and I bought it because I wanted to keep the miles off my LSB M3. Life is too short to drive a boring daily, so this fit the bill at the time. The only reason I'm selling it now is because I'm replacing it with another E46 M3. This is my 6th E46 M3 and I absolutely love these cars!

If you know me, I'm a huge car enthusiast and I love all things car related! I got this car fairly stock and it has seen a few different sets of wheels and seats. To make this process easy, I put the car back to stock but I can offer it with TE37s, TE37SLs, CE28Ns, CCW Classics, Enkei NT03s, OEM E92 18s, or just sell it on the OEM 19s that are currently on it.

2004 Clean Title
Silver Grey
Black Leather Interior
Power and Heated Seats
SMG Transmission
Parking Distance Control
Sunroof
Zero Rust
OEM 19s with new tires
H&R Springs
Stock Exhaust
Stock Trunk
Black Side Grills ( can be replaced - missing M3 sticker )
Black Kidney Grills ( not a fan )
New Roundel
Angel Eyes ( switch in glove box - never use it )

I will be very transparent about the condition / flaws and more than happy to answer any questions. The title is in my name and the registration / inspection is good until March 2019. I have been daily driving the car for a while now and would trust it anywhere. The SMG does not pop out of gear and no lights come on. More details below and recommendations.

Big items ( If you decide based on these items, I'll save you the long thread ):

Vanos - Not sure, no odd noise
Subframe - Yes, full job was tackled over a few month process. M3 DIY guide
Rod Bearings - Not sure
Clutch - Original Clutch
SMG - Original Pump
CEL - Not currently on but it makes an occasional appearance

Recent maintenance/mods:

10W60 Liquid moly oil change at 162,278
New Hella Oil Level Sensor 162,278
New CPV Valve at 162,278
Cleaned Oil Drip pan

Aligned at NTB after subframe fix/bushing install at 161,600

Rear Subframe Reinforced at 161,587

Noticed a clunk in the rear and found a hairline crack - decided to tackle the project since I planned on keeping this car for a while. Passenger front had a small hairline crack and driver rear had a hairline crack ( Pictured ) - I followed BimmerFans DIY thread and it helped tremendously! ( http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=464146 )

Clownshoe Motorsports plates
New oem differential cover with new oem bushings
Akg subframe bushings ( 4 total - 95d )
Oem front differential bushing
New Guibo
New Guibo bolts
Output Flange/axle seals
New transission mounts
New Control Arm Bushings
New Center Support Bearing
New Pinion Seal ( not installed but available )
New Torx Bolts for Diff Cover

Paint Correction: I have been a member on Obsessed Garage FB group and recently have gotten more serious about taking care of my cars paint. I worked on this car in July 2017. My washes always include the 3 bucket process and I use CarPro products and dry the car with a blower.

2 step paint correction ( wash/decontamination/clay/m105/m205/Collinite845 - Nanolex Washcoat or Hydrolite02 & CarPro Reload with washes)
Wheels off detail - cleaned up the wheel well area and suspension pieces
[ I can share my full process if you are interested ]

Other Maintenance Items:

Replaced passenger side skirt @158,500
Liquid moly oil change @158k
Rear quarter panel window trim (both) @158k
Rear upgraded diff bolts @157,500
Rear trailing arm bushings (rtab) @157,500
Passenger side mirror sag fix @155,000
Driver side headlight bulb @153,000
H&R springs installed @155k
06 m3 front shocks w 30k installed @155k
Smg salmon relay ( PO )
AKG FCABS @ 114k ( PO )
air filter, fuel filter, cabin filter, flex disc, trans fluid, diff fluid 124k ( PO )
Water pump at 130k ( PO )

Flaws: I would describe most of the flaws as average wear and tear from a 14 year old car with 163k. The paint is really nice now but you can't correct paint chips, etc without a respray. The transmission has the original clutch. Occasionally I stretch her legs but other than that, she's babied.

Flaw Details:

* Front Bumper ( 163k worth of rock chips - recommend a respray )

* Hood/Fenders ( At some point, a nice clear bra was installed on the front area up to the roundel but time has taken a toll on it and it is starting to crack - I recommend removing it in the future and I planned on taking my steamer to it one day )

* Passenger door has some ripples

* Rear bumper ( some paint chips )

* Airbag light is on from seat install ( car did not have a light on when I bought it - came on after my Recaro install - needs to be reset )

* Windshield washer pump light

* Left tail light indicator is on when I use my turn signal

* Rear view mirror has a crack ( not the liquid bubble but a crack from who knows )

* Smg transmission randomly grinds at times when stopped at a light in 1st gear

More info:

This car was owned by 2 different local guys in Dallas. I bought it to daily and I've been doing just that. They both cared for it and I tried to fix all the little things that bugged me. It runs and drives great. I would trust it anywhere and have put about 12k miles on it. I've seen the SMG light twice. 1st time was on my first day ownership ( of course it was lol ). I had driven it around town and we went to dinner. Afterwards, I turned the car on and saw the light at idle. I turned it off immediately, said a few choice words about how the previous owner had lied to me, etc and then turned the car back on.... it went away ( 151k ). 2nd time was on a super cold day and it was 17 degrees outside. I was leaving work and got into my car to warm it up. Same scenario, I turned it off and it went away. ( 153k) . I have not seen the light since and I never changed the Salmon Relay myself after these incidents. The other random thing about the SMG is that the transmission randomly grinds at a stop. Yes it is kinda annoying ( but I prepared myself and bought a 6spd manual transmission incase it decided to act up. 5,000 later, it is still driving great. I'm in Texas and it is normally 100 degrees 4 months out of the year but no issues!

That said, I would like to get $12,000 for the car. I will gladly detail it one more time for the new owner.

Options to the buyer of the car - Not really wanting to sell any of this stuff currently but will offer it to the buyer

M-Texture Alcantara Interior ( front/rear/door cards ) + $3,000

Here are current pictures of how she sits today after a wash.

Car will have the stock trunk on it - interior pictures coming!

Also, I'm not sure if the original description sounds pretty harsh or not, but I wanted to be honest. It's not a piece of junk and the paint is actually MUCH nicer than 80-90% of the cars on the road. No swirled out junk here but it is not perfect.

Correct - the stock one is not pictured but the car will come with the stock trunk. I will take updated pictures this week.

My apologies or the delay in posting up interior pictures ( I realize the lighting is not the best so I'll take some when the sun goes down tonight but I wanted to get these up as quickly as possible )

* The front door panel trims are wrapped in CF
* The front dash pieces are wrapped a black vinyl
* The rear panel pieces can benefit from a wrap
* Drive side door panel has a snag in it ( can be seen in the 5th picture - I will take a better shot of the whole door panel tonight )

Thank you
