not sure what balls are, but you must have them to drive that red 911. Lots of power and no power steering or brakes.
balls as in power.

Crappy motor? Meaning what - water-cooled? That started with the 996 in 98. They had the 3.2L with Motronic from 84-89. Then the 993 with a 3.4L air-cooled.

I meant the 964. I think it was 82? I forgot ever since lost interest in Porsche and focused on BMW.

The 911 SC was a 3.0L. It wasn't crappy, but does have the same power the 3.2L does. 3.2Ls started in 1984. The 3.2L 911s brought about lots of changes including in 87 they developed a new transmission called the G50. Prior to that the 3.2 was mated with a 915 trans.

From my experience the 915 trans is good for the 3.2L stock since it is lighter than the G50 - we are talking 200lbs difference. However I believe the G50 can withstand a lot more power through it.

Bobby, I spoke with my guy and told me not to chance it. He says original finish might come off but I want to thank you for your kind patience.

awesome! thanks for the education but I remember back then people hated the 3.0. I had friends who owned them and said they were crappy but not sure why.

oh yeah, porsche won't go air-cooled again - but I prefer (thus car - except the turbo water cooled engines) an air cooled model. Just preference.

The only think I can think of off the top of my head is the SCs tended to misfire and would blow the intake apart / off. My uncle has this happen all the time on his, but it's still a nice car.
