The bearing issue really sucks because there doesn't seem to be a proven fix. Buying one of these used means you had to really trust that the previous owner(s) let the car warm up properly and didn't beat on it too early. Even then, you may still have issues. It was part of the reason I ended up in a c63.

In my opinion it is certainly not, especially if the object appears to be getting a used one at a good price, because the general maintenance is inconsistent with that idea.

But again the bottom line for me is I did not much like the way it drove.

I like it, have had 2, a manual and DCT. The other choices around are no better. I just can't deal with F80

m3 forum Guide to buying E9X:
- 6 speed
- no sunroofs
- ZCP preferably
- 2009+
- no verts, E90 is best. E92 ok.
- make sure it’s babied
