What's up guys. I recently noticed an annoying "feel" and "sound" in my clutch when it is depressed. I took it to BMW of Rockville last week and, they said my clutch master cylinder was leaking everywhere so they replaced that. When master cylinders are replaced don't they usually replace the slave cylinder too?
Anyway, the "feel" and "sound" has not been taken care of. When I press the clutch in after I haven't driven it for a while, about half way through or so I hear a slight bumping sound and feel a slight bump as well. The car can either be off, at idle, or at speeds below 10 mph and I still hear it. It gets less and less as I drive the car, and after a half hour or so when the car is warmed up, it won't do it anymore, even at idle. Other then this annoying "sound" and "feel" the clutch works fine. No problems switching through gear and it engages and disengages fine. Anybody have this problem or know what it is? Mechanics opinions def welcome... *I'll try to post a Video for you guys for further diagnosis. Thanks!

Sounds similar to what I had. One day out of the blue the clutch started making a popping/squeaking sound in conjunction with a faint 'pop' in the clutch pedal's feel. What I think it is is the pivot fork inside the tranny, or something around that area. I took my slave cyl off, sprayed some lithium grease as best I could towards that area, and it seems to have helped.
PS. your sig is a bit massive |

Fix the sig photo.
And try putting your head down near the pedal and depress it with your hand. If the noise appears to come from the top of the pedal, chances are the pivot point is the problem. Spraying some grease on it may help. Replacing the pedal will help. Putting a aftermarket bushing in it (vendors sell these) will help both the noise and the feel. It's a crappy plastic pedal rotating on a poorly fitted plastic bushing on a steel pin. Guess what's gonna wear?

The noise can be caused by Air in the system.. I had the same problem.. even after replacing the Clutch Master and Slave along with new bushings and a SS line I was still hearing the noise.. ( sooo Anoying ) so after 3 attempts at bleeding the manual way and with a power bleader. I read somewhere to just keep pumping the pedal while the car is on and at light and such and after about a day of driving and pumping the clutch at ever stop light it finally went away..

I think I need to replace the slave cylinder... I installed rogue engineering clutch pedal bushings today and while I was in there I pressed the clutch and It sounded like it was coming from the slave or somewhere behind the firewall..
