Cool, thanks.

Right. You gotta resync anyway, so... might as well just virginize and not worry about it.

Thanks. That's odd and I would never every have figured that out.

Yeah I could only see it being useful in two scenarios:

1 - you want to copy the ISN to an EWS module for whatever reason (accidentally wiped yours or something perhaps)
2 - You want to keep EWS, don't want to use a BDM, so you modify the program space to look for the ISN elsewhere. But really, at that point I don't know why you wouldn't just delete it.

Well I guess option 3 is if we figure out how to erase/rewrite the boot sector over OBDII

What's the difference between the two most recent US MSS54 softwares, with ZB numbers 7842971 and 7842973? All I can find in is that in the table on the OP, they differ in their STAND numbers (J429 vs J469, respectively). Does this mean anything? Why were two different US MSS54 tunes issued on March 13 2009? I'm running 7842971 and wondering if I should be running 7842973 instead?

My car is a completely stock 2002 (01/2002 build date) and 6MT (converted from SMG).

Edit: terraphantm answered this for me in another thread

Quote:
Difference between J429 vs J469 comes down to the fuel tank leak detection system. Early M3s had unheated modules, while later ones have heated ones. I forget the exact cutoff, I think 2002+ are heated? In which case it would be "more correct" to use whichever ZB# corresponds to J469

Hi,

There is something that I don’t understand about delete MAF :

Some people put -5000kg/h for K_HFM_DIAG_ML_MIN and I understand that it doesn’t rise a MAF default because DME takes an higher value than -5000kg/h when MAF is unplugged.

But if you do this, how the DME knows that it must calculate RF with Alpha-N map (KF_RF_N_AQ_REL) and not with MAF sensor because it doesn’t know that MAF is unplugged so it must continue to calculate RF with a wrong and fixed MAF value, no ??

Thanks,
Vincent

Hi guys, what an awesome thread, still not done reading even half of it lol. I keep reading some pages a day based on my schedule.

Couldnt get BMWlogger to work. I have tried with TunerPro but I couldnt find the xdf for my DME. I will keep looking. My DME version is 211322002601-JD79

Also I tried with Chipfilebrowser, it displays my friend's MSS54HP ECU info in the MSS54tuner tab from the partial read but not mine (MSS54). It says it supports MSS54 in the release notes but I cant seem to view or edit anything in the MSS54tuner tab for my ECU.

Lastly, I am reading more into the thread and trying to figure out how to help uncover more stuff within code, If someone wants me to research something tedious, guide me and I'll start working on it.

Thanks,
MC
