Default GTR Vented Bumper and Fenders + Extras (LONG)

Updated pics as of 04/20/14

And done...

--------------------------

If you want to see the build process, continue to view the posts below!

--------------------------

Just wanted to start a thread documenting some work I have been doing on the side.

I've always loved the look of the GTR style venting on the OEM bumper and fenders. It's pretty rare for them to come up for sale and not a lot of body shops around me were willing to do this for me so I said screw it, I'll do it myself.

Because my fenders and bumper I have now are in great shape, I purchased used bumpers and fenders to work off of because I don't really know what I'm doing when it comes to bodywork and if I screw up, at least it's on spare parts.

I did a lot of researching and figuring out what supplies I would need and set out with a handful of precise measurements also known as, eye balling from a dozen pictures I printed off online and had at her.

Project is far from done but at least it might help some people it.

Parts measured and marked....

Primary tools for cutting after....

Cutting and bending....I made sure they were the same front and back, but basically the "vent gap" on the top is 2" and the bottom is 1.5"

Showing what needs to be trimmed off the rear bumper brackets to clear the vents....

Rear vent pieces cut and adhered. Parts were cut from another donor BMW bumper to maintain similar plastics

Teaser picture #1 with the new AGT diffuser. Diffuser has been shortened by width as can be seen by the two primer spots. It is now somewhere in between AGT and Varis width

Many steps of sanding and filling and primer to make eveything smooth and seamless....But getting there!!!

Teaser picture #2 - Floss. Hood will be fully painted less the vents...Like everyone else :p

More progress on post #21

Damn, I should do this. I curbed my rear bumper pretty much exactly where those vents would go. Can't make it any worse right haha.

Looks good. Keep it up.
