Default Definitive O2 and SAP delete guide

Tired of searching? Tired of reading forum posts that say "OK I'll flash and report back!" and no one reports back? Tired of PMing the "experts" who do not reply or tell you to PM someone else? Read on!

- Removed cats?
- Removed SAP?
- Want to pass an OBD state inspection?

Post-cat O2 delete
1. Completely remove your post-cat O2 sensors and replace your cat headers or cat section 1 with no cats.
2. Delete the DTC codes using the normal DTC removal method. I used method #4.
Code:
39 Lambda Sensor Heater Post Cat Bank 1
40 Lambda Sensor Heater Post Cat Bank 2
87 Lambda Sensor Post Cat Bank 1
88 Lambda Sensor Post Cat Bank 2
92 Lambda Sensor Post Cat Bank 1 Voltage Monitoring
93 Lambda Sensor Post Cat Bank 2 Voltage Monitoring
178 Catalytic Converter Efficiency Bank 1
179 Catalytic Converter Efficiency Bank 2
3. Optional, if you installed Euro or aftermarket headers and do not have an EGT any longer: Set the EGT sensor flag to "no sensor", more info in this thread. For the MSS54HP the offset is 0xCBA6 and you change the byte from 00 to 01.

SAP delete (optional)
1. Completely remove the SAP pump and install the block off plate and gasket.
2. Disable the DTC code 170 using the same method as the post-cat O2 sensors.

Final steps
1. Flash new DME file.
2. After flashing, turn ignition to off and then on.
3. Clear DME adaptions if you just installed headers (do not clear DME error codes!)
4. Turn ignition off, and then start the car.

You do not need to change any readiness monitors (min or max values). You do not need to modify any SAP voltages. Just disable the DTCs and that's it!

Proof! All my sensors report ready and no error codes are thrown! I have driven for 50 miles and the car is completely normal. Image taken on a Nexus 5 with Torque (free version).

Great summary! Surprised no one has commented yet.

I'm looking at euro headers, so this is a big help.

Do the rear o2 sensors still need to be plugged in to the harness, or do those DTC's cover that as well?

If I am using method 2 by zeroing out the entire string to remove the DTC will this method also set readiness, or is method 4 the only proven one that works currently?

Default Re: Definitive O2 and SAP delete guide

I have SAP DELETE AND NO CATS.

HOWEVER MY EMISSIONS SHOWS SAP available, not ready

O2 haven’t been become ready even after driving cycles. When you remove SAP DTC 170 does that make SAP unavailable? So then it passes and will allow O2 to trigger? Not sure why my O2 aren’t triggering to ready yet

If you undo the battery or clear codes ever, your systems woyld no longer show ready correct? Or will they show ready no matter what because of the way you've editted the file?

Default Re: Definitive O2 and SAP delete guide

I have 170 disabled using method 4 and the SAP monitor isn't showing ready. Anyone else have any luck?

edit:
In order to force readiness on my car for the SAP I had to suppress all SAP related codes, only then did it show that monitor as ready.

019 0x13 Secondary air pump relay Relay, secondary air pump Secondary air pump relay
063 0x3F Secondary air valve Secondary air valve Secondary air switching valve
170 0xAA Minimum flow of secondary air Secondary air quantity too low Secondary air system, flow too low
171 0xAB Secondary air valve stuck Function, secondary air injector valve Secondary air system, valve sticking

Afterward I noticed my O2S monitor un-readied itself, I drove a bit and that turned to ready.

My car is a 2002.
