Default Socket Size Transmission Output Flange

What's the size socket for the transmission output flange nut? It's not 30mm...I don't want to make several runs to the store...I need to return the 30mm one to get the correct size which seems to be from my estimate more like 34mm.

It's supposing to be a thin-walled 30mm socket...now to find that!

You could shave down the side of your socket with an angle grinder if that's easier

Beware the torque required to put it back on if you take it off. A non impact socket will more likely fit but an impact can be ground down.

Amazon is your friend here. I found all my special need sockets there.

Thank you Phil for sharing...the socket I have is the non-impact one; however, it has six points. I am thinking of skipping the output seal as one can get to it without removing the transmission.

Now is the time. Why drop midpipe and disconnect DS again? Check local auto parts stores and sears for 30mm 12 point in single socket section.

Is yours actually leaking? If not don’t freaking touch it! Most of the time they don’t leak, the selector seal above it does.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it

That is one theory. I do a lot of preventative maintenance. But it is true the selector shaft seal is the much more common source of leaking.
