Wouldn't that be a 335i?

Sorry, meant the S65 from the E9x M3. It's been done before a few times and always seems to get rave reviews. I want to say the subframes are interchangeable as well, but I am not 100% on that. It's really what the 1M should have been from the factory.

I agree! Also sucks the 1M was so limited. Also sucks that the M2 didn't get the S55. Cmon BMW; small car, big M engine is what the market wants!

Didn't the M2 get it eventually?

I'll be honest, I haven't kept up with new BMWs since they sound like lactose intolerant harleys.

S65 1 series would be awesome but I'm already doing that motor in an E46 M3!

What I think would be cool is an E91 6MT RWD with M3 subframes and souped up N54/N55. That would be a pretty fun street car. Particularly if you want something a little more modern and torquey.

I've always been a huge fan of the E8-9X chassis. It's pretty sweet (in M guise) and those cars are the last to still have hydraulic steering and the classic business radio (no idrive).

What kills me is the mandatory pano roof on US spec E91s

Brian (Redshift) and I are building an e91 M57/6MT RWD Stage 4 build right now with full M-Sport upgrades and MCS suspension. Got started dismantling the donor 335d last weekend. Waiting for the wagon to get back from the body shop to start the build. Should be fun and definitely torquey.
