Default CSL Airbox/tune with Map sensor

Hi All,

A year ago I had my CSL airbox installed. This included the map sensor and the CSL tune. I just found out today that my car won't pass inspection

What are others doing to pass inspection (I'm in NY, but think other states are similar)? Do I really need to buy another ECU? How will that work with map sensor?

Did they give you specific reasons as to why car won't pass inspection? Visual? Not ready status of sensor? No cats?

They indicated that they can't read the computer, as if the car is not on.

Can you try a different shop?

The issue comes down to that emissions recall BMW did back in 2009 or so. The CSL never got the updated software, so the bug that prevents it from communicating with some emissions computers is still present.

I'll try another shop today. But two shops have indicated they can't read my computer. I'll also try to connect my auto enginuity scan tool, haven't done that really since the CSL conversion.

That's interesting. Does this mean no emissions computers will work or just some? Curious as my TTFS software, INPA and BMWFlasher have no issue connecting with my DME (CSL tune).

Ignition has to be cycled (turn off then on again) until the DME is recognized.

I think it's just some since BMW was able to go 8 years without issuing the recall. It's probably a specific brand of computers that trip it, or maybe a particular state's.

I had that issue with my car when I got it - Texas's Emissions software couldn't read from the car until the DME was updated.

Tried another emission station. Now it's 3 places that failed me. Reason being unable to communicate with vehicle and no RPM detected. What are others doing with csl tune to pass?
