Wow, that's pretty harsh. If someone makes their car nicer for very little money I think that's a win. Some cars deserve and get brand new trim, but some people just don't have the budget for it. Definitely fair game to rate the various diy techniques though. It's nice to know what has been tried and how it turned out.

Also I believe I have a very nice quality radio/sunglasses bracket that I removed when I did the nav retrofit. It sounds like I should throw up a FS post for it.

Isn't the point of having a vert M3 to have a classy ride?

Tbonem3 my car looks great. I have revived it with hard work and money. Those mods I list in my sig, all paid for and most done by me. Your reaction is entirely overboard. A discussion on self respect is ludicrous. It is a huge improvement over what it was. That was the point. I have to budget and watch my money. Simple as that. I know there are others in the same boat so I shared. My trim was chewed up. It looked terrible. At the very least it is now passable, whether you like it or not.

All I was doing was giving honest feedback. If I were simply being a dick, I wouldn't have started the post with "I'm sorry."

You decided to take it personally. You can do whatever you want to your car, but if you post about it here, people (I wasn't the only one) may give negative feedback.

A bit odd to talk about having a budget and saving money on a $200 console but are supercharged with BBK and other mods, but ok.

First, read my post where I quote you, hassan, and obioban. I didn't take it personal. I just said it was harsh (yours was harsh). I didn't attack or call anyone names. I laid out my reasons for doing what I did. But I get it, I really do. You guys love these to a degree I can't afford to or want to. You want perfection. Nothing wrong with that. I can respect it. But we are all in this at various levels.

But then your next post is about self-respect. WTF?

Also your missing the point on a budget. I save where I can. I'd rather have stuff I consider important. $250 total (and that is what my
particular radio bracket and glasses holder cost from ECS) for brackets isn't important when what I had sucked. I improved my trim to a degree I can live with for a fraction (around $30). Now I've got $220 to spend on my Focus or my M3 for something more pressing. Would I take this approach with my door panels, which are in great shape, or something else that was already good? Nope. But I had no where to go but up on this trim.

I'm good though man. You really did make me laugh with the self-respect comment. No worries. Enjoy your car and I will enjoy mine.

The thing is, I was being genuine about the respect thing. That's my honest opinion. Especially in a vert where the show is more important than the go.

I believe there are good and bad ways to maintain this car and gave my honest opinion. Your car seems a great car in a lot of ways, so that's why I also gave my suggestion about it being worth the $200 or whatever.

Does anyone know what the "smoker's package" means for this area of the car? The radio bracket for cars without it is about half the price of the one with it. I can't really tell the difference between the two. Both appear to have a slot for the cigarette lighter...
