Default Re: DIY: Refinished my Ash Tray Cover/Bracket and Sunglass Holder

For what it's worth, I was able to remove the rubber from the cup holder area using just hot water. The parts that were stubborn had to soak a while but the end result was great and no sandpaper marks.

Also I believe I have a very nice quality radio/sunglasses bracket that I removed when I did the nav retrofit. It sounds like I should throw up a FS post for it.

I'm sorry, but this looks awful. Yes, it cost some $, but having all brand new center console pieces transforms a used e46 interior and was totally worth it to me.

Good tip about the water. Sorry for being OT but what was the p/n of the
radio bracket that had the price hike ? I just wanted to check the UK price to see if this is a general world wide practise from BMW.

Sorry man good effort, unfortunately it looks like it was painted and not well! If you donít want to spend the money plasti dip it with light coats it will look 10X better.

I will say this, one thing that can help is removing the silver inserts. Paint and then pop them back in.

Man, you guys are harsh but partially my fault for not posting the before pics. You have to take into consideration the prior state of my trim. It was terrible. The previous owner just tore it to pieces. Everything else on the car is in pretty good shape.

Also I feel the pics do the DIY a disservice as the flaws are readily apparent in the pics but much much less so in person. The shadows you see are because I was parked under a tree. Those aren't variations in the black color.

But to each his own and new trim definitely wasn't worth it to me. I will give plastidip a try somewhere down the road if this doesn't hold up.

I think it's also a matter of self respect. I mean, an expensive BMW luxury sports car with spray painted interior parts? I'd be embarrassed.
