Default New seats or sunroof delete

I'm 6'2 and I doubt I can fit in the car with a helmet and stock seats. I do like the stock power seats and they hold me pretty well in the mtn roads and they are comfortable. But with a sun roof delete im looking at finding a stock headliner as im in Hawaii and need the extra layer to keep the heat and rain noise down. So I think the cost will be very similar to seats.

How much more headroom will I achieve with sparco or similar seats and low rail? I have about 2inch of had space atm.

Cost for the sunroof del and non-sunroof headliner would be about $1000-1200 and save about 60+ lbs. A single seat like the Cobra Nogaro would be about $1500 and save 30'ish lbs. The sunroof delete saves more weight where it really hurts, higher.

I've done both in my previous 04 M3.

Personally I'd do the seat first since there are multiple benefits and then sunroof delete panel reusing the sunroof headliner to save that $6-800 till a cheap headliner pops up.

The headroom you can save really with a seat depends on your mounting solution and specific seat, but personally I needed both a seat (EvoII) and sunroof delete to clear comfortably with an upright-ish angle

If you drive the car on the street getting fixed back seats generally recommended to get roll bar and harnesses.

There are a few aftermarket seats (Negaro is one) where I believe you can run factory belts without the roll bar.

To get the head clearance benefit you might have to bolt the seat mountsmini to the floor without a slider.

I'm ~6'3" and have this same issue.

I opted to go with a seat from a local manufacturer here in Aus (VELO) and originally purchased the VAC floor adaptors and the seat manufacturers aluminium side mounts however, found the seating position to be no lower than the stock seat and far too upright even with the few adjustment slots present.

The only way to get it low enough for us tall people seems to be with a direct seat to chassis side mount rather than the universal adaptor types. Not sure if you'll be able to get sliders in there.

I've since been working on my own fixed mounts which also include a pickup for the factory seat belt and have had a lot of success getting myself as low as possible with a comfortable amount of recline.

Seats should get you like 45 pounds if you go with BK electric setup. And sunroof should net you about 35-40lbs.
