How are you guys hearing your airboxes so well? I just removed my Supersprint race and installed an Eisenmann Sport and although it's much quieter, I don't really hear much going on up front still. Did you remove your hood pads?

No hood pad, quieter than stock muffler with quieter than stock section 2, no flap on my airbox.

Do you have stock gearing? When I did 4.10s, the airbox noise diminished. It's at its loudest in 3rd and 4th around 4k/5k rpm.

No hood lining. I have evolve though and I think its style is a hair louder than oe or oe rep.

Thanks guys, Iím on stock gearing and stock section 1 & 2. Iím switching to a catted section 1 soon and Iím hoping that should cut some volume. Iíll pull the hood pad off tomorrow and see if that helps. I hope it doesnít roast the paint on the hood, but itís worth a shot. I swear the airbox can be the cheapest part of the conversion!

Iíve been driving my car without hood insulation thing for five years. Paint is fine.

Isn’t the hood insulation used for “fire suppression”?

I have my hood lining still attached. Running flapless. With the flap inplace, when closed the airbox is totally silent -- Which is why I removed mine.

I am now running a very quiet muffler (Supersprint Street)...But even with the loud RE El Diablo, above 4k RPM my airbox over shouted the exhaust note everytime. Usually when I drive, my windows are down...but even with them up I have ZERO issues hearing induction over anything else.

Totally agree. While there is not much of any similarities between the 2 cars other than induction noise, the induction noise is spot on. I can't think of a closer example to that noise. $10-20K vs $20 million....I'm totally fine with the induction noise being the only similarity shared...Especially with how spot on it is.

Not sure I agree with you on Evolve being louder. My buddy has the Evolve airbox and at one time we had identical exhaust mods (SS V1, Catless section 1, section 2, and RE El Diablo mufflers)....His airbox was not at all noticeably louder than my Karbonius (with the flap deleted). If I remember correctly, his hood liner is gone and mine is in place...and even still, one isn't louder than the other from my experience. Perhaps your experience is different...
