This is the first I'm hearing of this, something Kassel does? Everything I've read to-date said I'd have to swap DMEs in order to pass NY emissions if I went the CSL airbox route.

That's what I've read as well, so far.

Never used Kassel, so can't speak to that.

Both Evolve back in the day (don't know if they can anymore), and MCCHIP-DKR more recently were able to do it for me with no issue.

With the MCCHIP-DKR I forgot to ask for it originally and went to get it inspected... failed. Asked for it, he sent me a new flash, went back to the same shop and it passed... so I'm very confident they did exactly what they said they were doing.

This is pretty awesome, so did you just get their stage 1 tune and have them code the OBD emission settings? Or did you work with them for a completely custom tune?

Also did they do the CSL software, or did you already have that?

Thanks for sharing, very helpful.

I have a custom tune-- but I'm sure the emissions stuff could be added to either.

They did the CSL conversion for me, as well.

Thanks for sharing this, passing emissions was my major hangup in going CSL airbox route (the other concern being no OEM-like routing method for hoses/pipes without CSL bumper, but I can live with that). Going to pick up a Karbonius soon.

Sorry for the late reply, but no no maf in my setup. Not possible to have this much of a large opening and have a maf accurately measuring the air that's going thru it. It's why bmw went with the map sensor/alpha N hybrid.
Im all for running a map sensor if ur ecu is post 2003. For the non hp dme guys, a custom dyno alpha N tune basically runs as good as stock. No hesitation no bucking. Smooth as silk with consistant power

Replaced the small Specter filter with a bigger K&N, should be able to breathe better now.

Another annoying issue I found with this setup.

Just did an oil change for the first time with the intake, and the intake extends just enough over the oil filter housing to block the oil filter. At the moment the only option was to remove the intake, or slightly bend the filter to force it in/out.

Ugh! what a PIA, so many regrets with this setup

At least it feels and sounds good, gotta get it on a dyno to see how it actually performs.

Just a friendly update, obviously still don't recommend this setup at all.
