Default AXDB 2003 Carbon Black Journal

**Update on Page 3

Been lurking for quite some time... figure it is about time to properly introduce myself.

Just like many of us... The passion for cars started early. Unfortunately for me by having a twin my initial car selection was rather limited. However having a grandfather who buys new cars once his current one needs new wiper blades made my first vehicle choice easy.

Picked up a shiny 2000 323Ci in May '08 and drove it home.

Ended up going through many sets of stereos and wheels. And a subframe sadly but all in all my first BMW was a success.

I learned a lot about the e46 chassis with my first but always dreamed of owning am M.

My wish came true in a rather nightmarish way however. Two days after putting in new LED tails, smoked corners and side markers and painting the window trim. Oo and about 13 hours of detailing I was cut off en route to an IU basketball game. Lucky for me a police officer witnessed the accident so I wasn't at fault in any way.

One insurance check and about three weeks later my twin and I had a one way plane ticket to New York. There I picked up my first M.

Fully loaded except: winter package, navigation and, parking censor.

I owned the car for all of about 45 minutes until I got to Mr. Euro's house and traded out the OEM 19s it came with for a much needed set of 18s with snow tires.

About 800 miles later we were finally home.

Flash coward two weeks and I was finally about to get a good cleaning and snap a few decent pictures.

Then came the debate for chrome grills / gills Vs matte. Being that the car is CB I decided to go with the matte for a more consistent theme throughout the whole car.

After finally convincing Eddy at Apex to offer the 4th group buy I picked up a set of 18x9.5 et35 in anthracite and mounted them to Michelin Pss 265/35. 12mm spacer in the rear on Apex 75mm studs.

Current camber specs are -3 front and -2 rear. No rubbing issues at all

This past weekend was maintenance filled as I'll be driving to the 12 hours at Sebring next week. An inspection 2 is planned along with new RTABs.

Now only some pictures of the car sits today, finally relatively clean.

All photos are crappy Iphone pictures.. still need to get into a good shoot sometime soon.

Future plans are:

Smoked corners
Quad projects (m3freak86 hint hint)
Update cooling system in the near future

Sorry to hear about your past accident, but it looks like it really worked out for the significantly better!

Car looks great! Let me know if you're ever in the Chicago area. I plan on hitting the track a few times this summer!

Absolutely will do. I'm moving to Minneapolis come May so that isn't too far of a trek. I think there might be an HPDE in the Chicago land area around mid June isn't there?

Hoo Hoo Hoo. Hoosiers. 4 seed this year! Going to be a tough schedule though. Wichita state is very good. One of the most under rated teams in the big dance.

Just got back from the 12 hours of Sebring this Sunday. The race was fantastic, great racing all around (sadly Audi won the overall in the LMP1 Ultra Light R18) but BMW finished 1st in their class...

Being this was the first ALMS race I have been too, I wasn't let down at all.

The M was surprisingly comfortable for the whole trip, I was worried how I would feel after doing 2500 miles in 4 days in the PP's but it wasn't too bad at all. Ended up getting 25.2 MPG throughout the trip too which I was very impressed by

Few pictures and a video from the race and of night practice (hands down the best part of the whole experience is the night racing).

Turn 4

Hall of fame CSL

Saw my first Fisker Karma there...

That sounds like a fun trip! Those cars so amazing.

I believe that's a 1975 3.0 CSL though, not an M3
