Default Wheel Alignment for M3

So the tire rod got cracked...long story lol. Either way I replaced it with a new one and took it for a drive. As I expected I need a wheel alignment. I called over 10 shops and the answer I pretty much got the following "yeah we do European cars...yeah we do some BMW's...ohh you have an M3...nooooo go to the dealer we cant do that. I called the dealer and one said $220 for alignment. That is effin outrageous. Luckily I called anotehr one and he said $140. It should still be a little lower with my BMWCCA discount. Anyway I am just curious if this is all really true? Can it only be done by dealers? Why did BMW make it so difficult to do a wheel alignment while other manufacturers do it in a simpler way? Is this just an over engineering kind of thing like the new electronic dipstick? And if anyone knows any good indy shops in Northeast Pa or Northern Nj. Thanks guys!

220 is about right for a dealer. They probally charge 1.5 for a wheel alignment and shop rate is most likely $130 an hour. The shop that says 140 do u know how well is there alignment. The dealer most likely has a very well alignment machine that is calibrated probally

140 for the dealer ok. Ya i was just spitting some number out there just to give a refrence. And Also its not always which place is more expensive or cheaper..in the end it comes down to the tech doing the alignment.
