Where to start!

4 lug is totally fine but figure out your brake plan before you buy 4 lug wheels and tires. E30 is really under-braked. I run 15x8 TR1ís but had to go with custom Wilwood stuff for bigger brakes as a result of the wheels.

Youíll want camber/castor adjustable at the rear. Camber at the front. Decide if youíre doing coilovers before you buy the plates.

Wire in an oil pressure gauge, m20ís starve so you need to know when to back off. Baffles work-ish. Accusump is the only real solution.

Strut brace is useful at the front. What else am I missing?

Otherwise go with a 325is. M20b25. Definitely donít want an m42 or a b27. Though you can throw a b25 head onto a b27 and build a mini stroker from the eta motor. Better off starting m20b25 though, and those motors can do like 400hp with boost stock bottom end.
