Default Parking lot carnage..photos inside. Advice?

Hey all, I went to my primary physician today after feeling like crap for the past few days; and after spending the better part of two hours going through blood work and a bunch of chest x-rays I come out to find that someone had obviously pulled way over their side of the line and destroyed my bumper.

No note. No contact information. Nothing. Thankfully, as they run a pharmacy that also handles narcotic medications, there's a pretty sophisticated surveillance system in place, I asked if they could identify the vehicle in question, and maybe identify a tag number as well. Not sure if it will be of any use, but it may be helpful if I can get that driver's insurance to fork out the money for it, no? In any case, on to the photos:

Three nice chips here.

The damage also including the grille breaking..

And probably the most frustrating spot.

And completely

Needless to say, I did several of these and proceeded to be very angry.

So a few questions, maybe you guys can provide some input.

-If the tag number for the car at fault is found, is there anything I can do with it? Assuming he/probably she is insured.

-I've wanted to upgrade to a CSL style bumper since owning the car. I have no use for the fog lights, and the driver's side doesn't fire anyway; what are some quality options that don't break the bank? I know Vorsteiner is the top choice obviously, with the ModBargains/eBay type being low on the list. Are there some middle-of-the-road options that offer nice fitment without the hefty price tag?

-Assuming I go the above route, how is the install of a new bumper? Can someone drop a link for the DIY work?

-Is it more worth it to just have this bumper, which is a replacement anyway, resprayed and realigned?

Just looking to keep my options open. I had rear suspension overhaul and a nice spring/shock or coilover combo in mind for my next mod, but this just looks so ghetto I can't handle it.

Any advice, discussion, tips, and links are greatly appreciated, as always .

Zach

Yes. You can file a police report and make sure you have evidence. I.E. the video that shows them hitting you. You can talk to them and have them fork over the money to pay, go through insurance, or if they refuse flat out sue them.

Most will require adjustment, but body shops can usually do a good job at it. Only thing with the other cheaper brands is the "chipmunk cheeks"

It's just time to adjust it. No real expertise needed, just a lot of time.

Depends how much money you get them to fork over. If you have to pay out of your pocket then yeh buy a new grill and get it resprayed.

Also Zach if you have full coverage insurance you could essentially pay your deductible and get it resprayed for free (well deductible). Of course it depends on how much your deductible is and how much it is to repair the damage. If you have other spots on the car you may even be able to have the insurance cover those and get the whole car resprayed. Good luck man! Sorry to hear this, but stuff happens and hopefully you have the insurance to cover this.

Damn, sorry man. I would be livid if I walked out to this. Definitely try and get their tag number, the police take hit and runs very seriously. I'd file a police report and turn it into your insurance.

As for a CSL bumper, your gonna have to make friends with someone at a body shop. Ultimately it's gonna be up to them to get you a different bumper.

I guess you could keep the stock bumper, but honestly I wouldn't get it painted until you need it for whatever reason. Unless your planning on reverting it back to stock one day to sell it.

Unfortunately Saf, my deductible is right around the same cost as a whole new one plus a respray, by my calculations anyway. My rate is cheap for a kid my age, but having a slightly higher deductible helped out there.

I don't plan on ever reverting back to stock. Even when this car is past it's DD life cycle I plan on keeping it. Is fitting a CSL bumper really that bad?

I understand about the deductible. I'm young too, I've been considering raising my deductible just because I'm getting sick of paying so much for insurance.

Definitely feel you there. My coverage is awesome, and I pay a bit over a hundred a month--which is about a third what every other place quoted me . Geico, however, showed I had continuous coverage since '91, which is when my father bought the policy that I was on at the time

Sadly, I don't think it's worth it to go the insurance route, especially to run the risk of upping my premium.

Premium doesn't go up for hit and runs

And yeh Geico here too. I've got some scratches and dings and stuff too. A lot of little stuff. I'm going to be waiting until he summer and just have the whole car resprayed.

May look into that then! Doubt I could get them to spring for a Vorsteiner though, thoughts?

Other than silver!??!?!?!?

Hope all works out for you bro. I would flip if i found that on my car in a parking lot. Hope you get the tag and in the information from the driver.

I smell CSL Bumper on the way lol. Just have insurance pay for the retail price of the OEM bumper and you pay the small diference for the CSl all works out.

sorry to hear. that sucks. not sure if they could do anything even with the tag, but its worth a shot. If there's no mechanical damage, doubt going through insurance is even worth it assuming you have to pay some kind of deductible, and depending on the state you live in, they could increase your premium too even if you are not at fault.

moving forward, I have a Euro Spec bumper with a one piece lip. To me its the best looking one out there (thus i bought it).

pardon me for the stock wheels ... I have BBS CH on it now
