Default Dilemma between two cars

Many of you know that I have a 1995 Dakar e36 m3. I've owned that car for 6 months and have put a lot of love to it. So far I've put a new headgasket, heatercore, rear shock mounts, reinforcement plates, spark plugs, valve cover gasket and tires. Today I just got my tie rods assembly, sway bar endlinks, o2 sensor and exhaust manifold bolts that I will put on the car as soon as I have some time. The car it self just broke 150k miles. It has a dinan tune, dinan throttle body, bilsteins struts and H&R springs all 4 corners. It has an Exedy clutch aswell.

Cons:- It has a dent in the rear left quarter that I was quoted $500 to fix from my body guy. Yes, out here in Ohio things are cheap. No, it's not going to be fixed with bondo. I cracked the front bumper but I have a new unpainted one aswell. I also bought light weight wheels that I am in the process of metal polishing. I was going to get the quarter, bumper painted as soon as I got the light weight wing. Air bag light on ever since I got the heatercore job. Steering wheel isn't straight from the heatercore job and I haven't done that since I was refreshing the front suspension anyways. Being an e36 the headliner is sagging.

However, last night I was just scorching craigslist and I found a car I've been seeing for sale for atleast 2 summers for the same price. I'm pretty positive I could sell my car for 6000$-6500$ as is after I tackle the front suspension refresh and o2 sensors. Since the supercharged M3 is for sale for 7900$ I'm positive I could get it for 7000$ it's been for sale for too long.

Now my dilemma is this car doesn't have an intercooler and my M3 is my dd. So that car would also have to be a dd until the winter. Will the car suffer from heatsoake? It's a little too much trashed on the inside and will it blow up even with the lower miles? Or should I just keep my car and build it my way eventually with an s50b32 or an S54.

This was very difficult to decode and digest.

If your current car is a DD, then the rear panel/headliner/ bumper shouldn’t be an issue. Sounds to me like you just want to upgrade to something more powerful albeit more beat.

I personally wouldn’t touch that supercharged m3 with a 10 foot pole... but this is your money, not mine.

Keep your current car.

It's more like a dd and a project car. I will have a Jeep XJ as a dd before snow hits.

Yeah, it's the power and the price that is tempting but then again I'd rather keep my that's pretty solid for a trashed car

It’s an antique powerdyne supercharger. I would not pay anything extra for it. Had one. If it was a vortech system it would be more worth buying. But if you like the car for other reasons at the price, consider it.

That car is a mess up front. 92-96 fenders and nose panel on a 97. I’m sure there’s more hidden with no engine bay pics.

Powerdyne are entry level superchargers. They require regular internal belt replacement and don’t make the power Vortech based kits do. A properly maintained kit will be 260whp at best with the standard 6psi pulley config. Vortech are 280-300 at the same boost level. Max you’d want to run on PD is 10psi, Vortech you can throw whatever you want at them.

You probably already know that I rebuild Dinan kits. Powerdyne I’ve sold two full kits and Vortech around ~8 now. Rebuilds, brackets, tuning, etc... I can help with.

That said, don’t get all hyped up on a Powedyne car that’s a mess. At least find a Vortech based car that is a mess.

So the option is replace one high maintenance car that you have already sunk a bunch of money into on parts with someone else’s high maintenance car with a subpar supercharger that hasn’t sold for two summers and likely comes with a whole bunch of problems you will need to address...or you can keep fixing your car and improve it.

I can’t say this strikes me as a dilemma.
