Ok FPR holds vacuum. Will test pressure when running again.
Got cleaned injectors back on.

Doing valve cover gasket and may have found the leak. Some butthole gouged the head surface and cover had blowby dust inside, in this area. Not really particulates but dry ‘dust’. Only area of inside that was bone dry. I am hoping some grey Permatex will fix this.
Might be part of the issue...

I’ll have it running next week. Need to swap o2’s out as well. Feeling hopeful!

Got it all back together and drove it. I was anxious to see if the vcg was the use and it’s not. Pending codes came back after 15-20 miles. STFT were +- 4 bouncing up and down when hot, which is good. New gas cap gasket, VCG, Intake gasket, fuel injectors cleaned and refurbished, new vacuum lines wherever could find them.

Still could be (and need to test /replace):

Pre cat o2 - someone says the ones PO (done by a BMW shop) put on are wrong, I have new ones - NTK 25013
Test fuel regulator pressure
Maybe the new MAF is just bad

The LTFT still pegged at -8.6 so prob need adaptations reset too. Anyone in NW burbs/Chicago want a 12 pack for resetting for me with the right tool?

No longer think there’s any vacuum leaks. Maybe cats are in fact bad. Need to do the O2s before I can say for sure. So frustrating.

Post o2 voltage is low and steady , not sure if that’s is normal, might need to swap those too? I get .14 volts

Cleaned MAF and plug terminals with Dexoit

Fuel pressure is 43-45 at idle with vacuum and 51 when vacuum line disconnected.

Downstream O2 voltage jumps around when I hit the gas. Still slightly rich at idle once hot. Bouncing from 0-4%.

There’s plenty of power, no lagging not running hot. But, I do think it’s bad cats at this point. Thoughts?

Maybe time to take it to a shop.... defeated

Resolved! An independent shop found the ECU was changed out with one from. 2000 Z3 M series. He reflashed it and CEL/ rich condition gone.

So I guess I did some unnecessary work.... but it’s fixed and passes emissions.
