my buddy bought a brand new e92 m3. moved to la. sold the car within 3 months. idiotic, but he was not getting out of 2nd gear and he was killing gas. he bought a new 335i and he has never been happier. the torque of the turbo is way more usable on the street, than winding out the s65. Quote:
i hate the change of the name, but as long as there is an M3, thats all that matters to me. |

Can't sell an e90 m when you are selling f30 non-m's.

Mostly agree which is sadly a large reason why I haven't pulled the trigger on a 997.1 GT3 as I had planned.
Speed limits for everywhere I drive 99% of the time are 40-45mph and it's VERY strictly enforced. I also know I wouldn't get to the track but maybe a couple times a year.......MAYBE. What's the point in having a GT3 in that environment? I'm more likely to buy a used F30 diesel or 328i down the line. |

![]() Yes, the displacement is the same (as is N63 --> S63), but the block/head/turbos/intake/VANOS/etc will all be M-specific... Sounds at least quite promising to me. Quote:

1. The factories are tooled for the f30/f80 platform now
2. Marketing Same thing will happen to the e92. As soon as the factories are tooled up for f32/f82 production they will be no more. |

faster and more powerful I would need some data for. If speed is the consideration, is it the same driver, course, wear on vehicles equal? You can't just throw out a phrase like "faster" yet. More powerful than the e92 is also suspect since official numbers haven't been released yet and clarified by a third party consumer report. The f80 isn't naturally aspirated which makes this statement hollow because you should consider turbo lag and the fact the engine is 2 cylinders smaller. The fact is that the e92 m3 has the only v8 in any m3 and didn't need turbos to get the horsepower. To me it just seems like BMW was playing catch up with f80 after the e92 m3 model.

Two words....turbo lag. If someone can show me otherwise I will consider the new one. I want to like it but something is holding me back, other than my accountant.
I guess the torch is being passed on. Can't stop progress I guess.
