How/Why is it cheaper to buy a car through the European delivery program?

Yeah... Try Switzerland or if you really want to throw up check Denmark. Most expensive in the world I believe.

I would think it's because the car is already paid for and doesn't have to go to a dealer and sit to be sold? Of course that doesn't account for people who order the cars from here.

Would like to hear the real answer as well.

vs other countries
Quote:
This is actually quite complicated....

See below.

It's still more even after you remove the VAT (Sales Tax). The Euro is over valued relative to the and $ at the moment, and that distorts things (see below). Also, car prices on websites in Germany (and most of Europe, like here) usually include the VAT, 15-20% in taxes. Lets use a sales tax on the US price of 7% to be safe, is that about fair(?)

BUT....

E92 M3 Coupe (plus options....but ours does have Nav and leather as standard).

UK : 53,275 + Options = $85,635 USD
Euro: 68,350 Euros + Options = $90,338 USD
USA : $62,480 inc 7% Sales Tax + Options = 39,217 (UK) or 47,264 Euros (Germany)

Many will argue 'if you earn in Euros, it doesn't matter', etc. But...

Average Salaries - disposable income after income taxes (Source)
Note these are obviously pretty low salaries, as they are an average and take into account everyone...

UK: $26,312, - 30% of a UK M3 (16,511 in the UK)
Germany: $25,146 - 27% of a German M3 (19,019 Euros in Germany)
USA: $31,410 - 50% of a US M3 (19,733 in the UK, 23,783 Euros in Germany)

....so unless I have screwed up somewhere, a US M3 is definitely the cheapest. We are also ignoring cars with punitive import taxes (Singapore, Norway, etc) where such a car will be six figures

Interesting E. Long story short, everyone in the US needs to shut the F up about cars being expensive.
