Default BMW Mystery Part

During some recent maintenance, I found the attached rubber part laying in the engine compartment of my 1998 M3. It's approximately 1.5 inches in diameter X 1.5 inches long with a bullnose end. It contains one central through-hole surrounded by 8 blind holes. I have no idea where is goes or it what it is.

At the time, I was cleaning the ICV and had removed the airbox, air massflow sensor and throttle body.

Can anyone help me identify this part?

It goes on the bottom of the airbox as an insulator
