fan boys says use castrol 10w60.

real enthusiast says use anything but castrol cuz that oil is a peice of sh*t.
use lubromoly racetech 10w60 instead. or royal purple 10w60 (more expensive)

this is the oil u want for your motors guys. castrol breaks down so fast its just marketing. ask any real master technician at ur bmw dealer. i did. and i know some of them. they wouldnt put that kind of oil in an m3 especially with 15,000 km interval ( dunno it in miles) 8000 km minimum or engine oil breaks down.
in the case of castrol oil. 2000km itll start breaking down lol.

How stupid is this, BMW recommend's the use of Castrol for a reason - because they have tested it, these engines fail if they are not looked after correctly, i.e using the correct oil. I can see people having problems if the correct oil is not used!

I say let the not so informed people, put in non 10W60 Castrol in the car. Take it to the dealer and tell them you have an engine knock, they will flat out deny the claim.

Id say they fail because the maintenance schedule is BS.

Better oil provides better lubrication. There is no way BMW can pay for all that high quality Oil. If you think Castrol is the best then maybe you should do some oil research. Its the best mass produced oil? maybe is it the best synthetic oil? maybe

Maybe they pay BMW the most to recommend their product. Who knows

But I can tell you that higher quality oil is available.

Ouch calm down, it's just a simple question.

To the OP, I'd just stick to the Manufacturers specs.
