Cool thanks for the insight. I will check out the Swift Spec R springs see what others are saying about them.

I believe Bilsteins are a good alternative to the stock shocks you've got. I've had my Bilsteins for around 6 months so far and I must say I love the way they drive. Reasonably firm drive.

Sourcing suspension bushings based on price will end in tears.

Listen to Ian - stick with OE.

Don't know if it is still an option, but I get a pretty deep discount as a retail customer at a local dealer via my Roadfly account.

Actually I don't even know how I got signed up for it...

I'd go with the 100k mile recommendation. The deterioration is gradual and you don't really notice the incremental change until it's bad. But a fresh suspension is supple and makes the car ride like new again. Unfortunately to many people a new suspension means a set of stiffer shocks/struts and that actually makes the many old bushings and ball joints and links and mounts give a worse ride and handling.

You can buy an M3 suspension kit by TRW pretty cheap (cheap is relative but to me it looked like a good value and I will likely buy it in a year or two as I hit 100k). I think FCP sells a kit. TRW made the BMW parts.

You can also just replace parts here and there. Typically a few parts wear faster. If you are on a budget or not really into performance and the car drives fine to you this is ok.
