Default Looking at a 97 E36, thoughts...?

Been looking at E36's for some time now and found this one. It's a 97 with a bunch of mods.

new paint, RMS Stage 3 Supercharger, M50 Manifold Conversion Kit, RMS Headers, Dinan Carbon Fiber Kit, 6 Speed Manual Swap, the list goes on and on. 167k on the clock.

Asking $25,555 (bit of change for a 97)

Thoughts?

Not my cup of tea. I generally avoid any modified cars. It also seems quite overpriced.

Looks like a really nice build, I believe the previous owner aka who built the car is a member on here. Buying an already built car is really just up to your preference. Is it exactly how you want or would you be messing with it? For that kind of money, I personally would look for a very low mileage original example, or buy a much cheaper car and use the rest of the $$$ to start your own build.

Its expensive, but if its a car thats something you'd want to build, you will literally save 25-30k over building it yourself.
If its not what you'd want to build, its not worth it. Its a very specific buyer that will buy that car. Only you can decide if you are that specific buyer. I think its awesome, but not something I'd want.

Hmmm, super low mileage c5 z06 corvette, super low mileage c4zr1, slightly above average e46m3, average m coupe, high mileage e92 m3, brand new Honda Accord, used focus rs, there are so many high performance cars around that price. It is a cool car, not my style but if I had money to burn...

E46's are heavy lumps.

Get a clean E36 M3 and put an S54, 420G and 3.64 in it, pocket the change. Will eat E46 M3's.

Thanks for all your thoughts and feedback. It's all about personal preference and I agree it's a lot of money for something with high miles and 21 years old. With that being said, I've been looking for a nice unmolested E36 for some time now. I'm really not a huge fan of the E46's either.

I can go both ways....find a nice non-abused un-molested stock E36 or find one that's been tastefully modded (which in my opinion this car seems to be).

This car is being sold through a dealer but I'd like to talk to the previous owner if at all possible.

Some of you mentioned the owner was a member either here or on bimmerforums? Does anyone know his name/ID? I'd like to chat with him before committing.

Thanks in advance guys.

Then neither of his two cars are for you. There's a reason they are still for sale and he cashed them out to a dealer. The modifications are VERY specific and a hard sale. There is a lot going on with his builds. Everything has been touched (molested).

Both cars look put together decently well, but I wouldn't call them nice.
