I was part of that group buy as well. Told him I wanted to drop out after waiting 6 months past the end date. That was my first bad experience with SGT

Simple economics...because these cars are aging and value has dropped significantly since new, not everybody is looking to spend 25% (or more in some cases) of their car's value on OE CSL parts. However, that being said, I personally don't think that cheap 'overseas' parts are the answer either. Some CSL parts are more easily replicated than others. For ex: they're several quality air boxes on the market currently for about 1/3 of the price of the real thing.

Allow me to clarify. The OEM bumper as in the one which came with the car.

To switch to a lower quality unit which somewhat resembles an even prettier piece from BMW (CSL) seems like a step backward. This would likely devalue the car even quicker. OEM unmolested examples are becoming collectible items.

In this case its tough to complain about manufacturers making something that is a "like" kind reproduction.

You really do get what you pay for as evidenced by some of the folks who got the Streamline trunks which fit...well that didn't have ideal fitment. It sucks because I'm rooting for the entrepreneurs who are striving to create great product for this community.

It would seem though, that in the effort to save $500 those who got bad product could have just done it once and done it right.

The Airbox replicas seem to be great from Karbonius, Evolve, & now Streamline. I am ready to hand my money over to whoever can produce one quickest when I'm ready.

Ahhhh, gotcha, totally misunderstood your post...thought you were commenting on the quality of CSL replica parts in general. But agreed that I would prolly just leave the factory front bumper alone vs. replacing it w/a cheap ill-fitting CSL rep version.

Because members love to hype up new “potential” producers for our cars. Then other members follow blindly and give biased innacurate reviews to justify their purchase. Proper csl bumper looks better than the more bubbly oem bumper imo. New csl bumpers are selling for $4.5k, if you can even find one, no thanks.

That’s why I bought my Sgt bumper/parts years back, all positive reviews and hype from other members (to be fair my Sgt bumper isn’t bad at all). Nowadays I take into account who’s giving the review more than the actual review itself.

I love when people only care about the resell value of the car.

Itís the risk of buying aftermarket parts. Not much has changed over the past 15 years. You get good stuff and thereís plenty of utter crap out there.

The premise of building a CSL using non-OE parts isnít lost on me. It looks cool mostly because itís rare. Which means spending $10k on exterior parts on a 13+ year old platform is borderline insanity...IMO.

Glad I found this thread. Was about to order the csl front bumper and trunk from them. Any recommendations on who to go with instead?

^^Their trunk fitment (at least in my case) is great. For the front bumper, it seems like OEM or a used Vorsteiner may be your best hope.

For what it's worth, I regret going CSL front bumper as my brakes are cooking on track without proper ducting that is easily solved with the OEM bumper + ducting. It looks good but not worth eating thru pads and rotors.
