Got a lot done recently. Thanks to DanAvoN7, I was able to bulletproof my VANOS and get a valve adjustment. I also ordered a Supersprint Sport Muffler during the cyber Monday deal (50%!), painted reflectors, a used (working) smg paddle switch, idler/tensioner pulley kit, and engine mounts.

Here are some pictures from Dan bulletproofing the Vanos:

Original FCAB, I don't think it was ever replaced

Getting a temporary FCAB in there until I order new ones

Here are some before/afters

Got a couple things planned for the winter. Contemplating if I should attempt it myself or take it to Dan and let the pros handle it .

Currently have headers, engine mounts, giubo & csb sitting in the garage. Still need to order rsm/rtab and possibly a sect 1. Waiting on FCAB, fuel filter and SS sport muffler from cyber Monday as well.

Recently fixed the weather stripping, but the curving part of the quarterpanel still needs to be replaced (have it on order). Also replaced the idler/tensioners + belts.

Got the B-Spec Tune from buildjournal this week. Only had a chance to drive it for a little bit, but it's a lot better. The shifting feels a lot better in SMG, although not life-changing. Overall a great product and probably one of the best customer service I've ever received.

Going into TC Design next Tuesday for subframe reinforcement, RTAB, and RSM

Just got the car back from TC Design, apparently there was a lot of cracking on the subframe. They were able to get everything reinforced. Also got GC RTAB and rear shock reinforcement plate put on. They also had to replace the giubo and csb because the PO never replaced it.

Here's what the old giubo looked like

It's so nice to see people who buy these cars and bring all their maintenance up to par before making it flashy. You're doing a great job, got any plans once maintenance is done?

Thanks man. Iím just going down the list and trying to get as much stuff done as possible.

Big plan for now is CSL Airbox (possibly fi), lighter wheels, a set of coilovers thatís more compliant at the track like tckline and possibly a 6spd swap. But for now just catch the maintenance back up

I'm digging the big plan, throw some headers, and a tune in there; it will really compliment the CSL airbox.

Already have it sitting in my garage. Planning on throwing it on there sometime this month. Also running a BSpec tune for now until airbox then going with alpha n.

After Jared's thread about the ECS catch can being so cheap and staring at KhanArt's engine bay, I decided to pull the trigger on one of these. Pretty self explanatory, no instructions came with it, but it's really simple. Just a small disclaimer, the hose clamps are really small. I ended going to my local hardware store and buying a bigger hose clamp to compensate on one of the hoses.

Got the car back last night from Dan (DanAvoN7). He ended up doing my headers, engine mounts, transmission mounts, P/S leak, and FCAB. After getting the car back, I noticed two things: pulls better throughout the ranges and the rasp. I think next up is a resonated sect 1. Then I flashed the BSpec tune with stage 1 burble, feels better. Not crazy noticeable power difference, but it didn't cost anything so meh + SES light is gone so that's always a plus.

This concludes my maintenance frenzy (for now) until rod bearings probably sometime late this year. Here are some pictures from install that Dan sent me:

And yes, that fuel filter is from 2002, the original one.
