Great write up. I may be getting back into an M3 again and would consider picking up an SMG if I cant find a MT coupe with the color and options I'd want, and just convert it to a MT down the road.

I didnt see any instructions for removing the paddle shifters from the steering column. Is that pretty straightforward?

This thread is indispensable. However, I'm looking for some clarity on the gear identification switch (p/n 23142229113) and it's wiring.

I gather that switch replaces the existing reverse switch (p/n 23147524811), and shares a similar connector.

But simply unplugging the old sensor and plugging its connector into the new one results in the reverse lights being constantly illuminated.

The DME has been flashed with EU3, and the VO has been updated along with every module in the car.

Have a question. Was checking out the shopping list and came up with some part numbers that I thought were odd. Can you explain/confirm if these are the same or different?
#07129904567 - Circlip
Comes up as “Fuse”

25111222451 - Lockring
Comes up as “Circlip”

25111222688 - Gear Shift Rod Joint
Superseded as “Joint”

25111220439 - Plastic Washer
Comes up as “Spec. Shim”

25111222015 - Bearing Shifting Arm
Comes up as "Suspension"

Also. If I was to get my BH core exchanged at PT, would there be parts I don't need from your list or would they just do the machining only?

THANKS!

Going off memory here but I had to trim the ridge off the new gear position sensor connection so it would plug and play. I also had zero issue with reverse lights

gear identification sensor does not replace the reverse switch. It is switch that exists in addition to the reverse switch
