Meh...just drive. It's not too far.

Need some advice from those who have shipped their M's cross country.

- Did you go w/ an open or closed carrier?
- What are the questions I need to ask the shipping company?
- What did you guys do about mods with regards to insurance? How do you declare the "value" of your car and its mods?
- I'm going from SF to Boston, which is the top (most reliable and reputable) company?

I plan to tip the driver nicely befoe and after just to make sure he takes special care with my babies.

Please help with the above questions! I'm so stressed planning for the move on top of everything happening at work I'm dying here..............
When I bought my M3 I had it shipped from Kansas to NY. I used an Open carrier to save on cost and had great results. I used MONTWAY auto carriers, and I was always in contact with the driver and he was a great guy. I don't see the need to go with an enclosed carrier unless its some sort of fantastically expensive car. My car arrived perfectly clean and no issues anywhere. The huge front of the truck blocks any rocks or anything from hitting any of the cars. Worst case I can see is a bird craps on it or rain/dirt.

I'll let others with better insight answer the other parts.

oh wtf @ guy who bumped 3yr old fread..

No, I'm not!

House hunting in Jersey now, depressing! I think the only town I could possibly live in is Morristown.

Different is right! I've lived in many places / countries and I have to say, Bostonians are some of the WORST drivers on earth... they love running red lights.. .and the cops are often oblivious to people running lights... don't understand it.

Anyone else have a good experience with Intercity? Am looking into them, and Horseless (and any other that folks have used). I am looking at enclosed.

Also, any advisable steps on "prepping" the car prior to ship? (e.g. covering the interior/seats)
