Default OEM Navigation Screen randomly opened and won't close now

I have an 02 M3 with oem navi retrofit done by my installer whose the best... no issues for 14 months... yesterday i'm driving and the navigation screen comes open on it's own... i tried to close it by pressing the button but it wouldn't do anything... instead all you were hearing was the motor whining non stop. I then waited to pull over at this gas station like 5 min later and tried to close it again since at this point the whining had stopped and it closed. I'm also 99% sure it did it before I even shut the car off. So i go home park it in the parking garage for the night and today when I go to my car the navigation screen is in the open position and the motor is whining. I drove for an hr today and no luck getting it to fix even after the whining stops and i try to press the button does nothing. I did a few searches and some possible solutions I've heard are disconnect the negative battery cable or potentially the fuse could be blown?

My car has the 16:9 screen with the tape behind it upgraded bm53 radio tuner and hd dice and sirius and mk4... it's def not an issue of not having the right radio tuner ( i saw that in one of the threads)

My M5 did this twice as I ended up just pushing it close, with no ill effect I've seen.

One of mine used to do this sometimes. I'd push it closed, it'd do it again, it'd make the ejecting noise, etc. I would just fight with it and swear at it and eventually it'd stop and then I'd never think of it again til a year later when it'd go through the same thing again.

Just be sure that if it's whirring, you pull fuses 7 and 41 so it doesn't just drain your battery. (Actually, doing that and pushing it closed tends to snap it back to reality.)
