Did 17 hours of non stop with 3 SMG’s in decent heat and all were just fine.

Remember that monster shunt of his in Canada? The next day, as he walked out of hospital, a journalist asked him if he'd seen the crash on TV. Robert Kubica stopped, looked the journo right in the eye and said: "I've seen it twice: the first time I was there!"

I did a road trip from San Diego, CA to Oklahoma City and back, had no issues.
Beautiful scenery/drive between Arizona and New Mexico.

You'll be fine as long as you've kept up with major maintenance.

Awesome to read that so many people have done road trips in the e46. I definitely love my cruise control because I get a heavy foot on long drives. No more tickets for me. Longest drive I've done is LA to Monterey for car week. 5 hours direct and 7 hours up pch. It's a breeze and no issues. Take a tire repair kit if you want.

I've been thinking about a drive to Texas recently and I've always wanted to drive cross country as well.

Like others said, if your car is maintained not a problem at all.

You will get rock chips and dead bugs all of the front end. But that's not something that can be avoided. Only advice I have is wash it off when you get to the destination and back. I left bird crap on my car for like 8 hrs overnight (Didn't want to wash in the middle of the night) and it took a patch of clear coat off the hood. Must have been some alien bird, I've never seen that happen before.

Have a good road trip!

I've put 14.5k miles on my 2006 6MT (53-65k miles) this year; I'd LOVE a 14 hour round trip.

I'd pay money for that. I'd do it in the wee hours and BLAST those f-ckin roads.

Here's a 1 minute clip of my driving style (turned Waze off and my camera around for y'all). Actually it's not; I don't usually pass with too much of a Delta. Or.... do I.... no. No, I'm sure I don't. I'm sure I never would.

Only when I listen to Green Day.
