I have done a trip from Seattle to the Grand Tetons through Yellow Stone and up to Glacier and back. Car handled fine. Car got dirty. Some water and soap and it was good as new.

I recently did an 1840 mile drive with mine.
Started from MD, WV, VA, KY and TN to see the eclipse. On my way back, stopped by Tail of the Dragon (3 round trips) then came back to MD via NC, TN, VA and WV.
I put about half a quart of oil in WV on my way back from TN.
No problem what do ever.
Have fun.

Road trips in the M are equivalent to asking your dog if he/she wants to go out for a walk, followed by he/she going totally mental and jumping all over you with a leash in their mouth ready to go before you can put your shoes on.

I can appreciate this thread being someone who is OCD about paint, but its almost borderline insane asylum in here at the moment. Just enjoy the drive. Dont put blue tape on it, dont swap your bumper over, just drive it and have fun!

These cars are fantastic on road trips, when stock. I just did a 1200 mile trip with zero issues. Great fun except for fuel prices.

Remember that monster shunt of his in Canada? The next day, as he walked out of hospital, a journalist asked him if he'd seen the crash on TV. Robert Kubica stopped, looked the journo right in the eye and said: "I've seen it twice: the first time I was there!"

Spare belt, spare coil, some extra oil and brake fluid just in case and you are good to go. I've done ~1000 miles in one day before, only stopping for gas and washroom breaks. The car performed flawlessly.

I did 12 hours each-way round trip and didn't even think twice about it.
My car has been super duper reliable. Very fun to do a long drive.
I love my M3.

The pump isn't used whilst in gear and driving at a constant speed. Is it?
