I'd be excited if I were you and go if I had the opportunity. Makes me want to drive through the canyons!

You mounted your ez-pass behind your front grille? Interesting.

Put some miles on her and enjoy bud

Just enjoy the car op, I too have gone through this rock chip anxiety after a new paint job.

1. Get quality clear bra on entire front end and be worry free on long trips

Or

2. Just leave it as is and plan on a front end respray every 5-7yrs (which isnt too costly considering 5yrs is a long time and only if it’s bad). This only applies if you’re as particular with the car as I am. Dr. Colorchips can help too.

Edit: I too drove from NC to PA 6x in the past year. You will for sure get rock chips unfortunately. At least get your splitters clear bra’d which is what I did. Only cost me $50.

Yes, it is the external front bumper mounting type (I previously had it on my Range Rover) and as absurd as it sounds the perfect mounting solution was to drill two additional holes on its ears and zip-tie it to the back of the grille. Due to the shape of the grille fins, it can't move or tilt more than a couple of degrees and it closer to the intended mounting height than it would be if I screwed it onto the bumper cover in the hamfisted manner the "authorities" prescribe.

But I would have to drive almost an hour to get to the only toll road in NC to test it... and I have a lot of things to do in a short time if I am gonna make this trip a reality. So the real test will be somewhere in NoVa or the DC area I guess... keep tabs on local newscasts, if it doesn't work I am not sure what happens.

Actually I think I will zip tie it to the hood grille if this doesn't work. Then perhaps the bumper's center lower grille. Lastly, and under protest, I would consider using double sided tape to stick it on the bumper. Maybe. No ****ing way am I screwing it on there, I would rather throw money in the basket.

Buy another M3 bumper just to mount on for the trip then sell it when you get back. Haha.

Also just get a tire repair/plug kit. It’s fixed all my friends “nailed and screwed” tires on trips. You don’t even have to lift the car. Just roll until you can get access to the object/leak and repair.

Its a car, it's going to get some battle scars. Enjoy it! I drove a track prepped e36 M3 across the country, over 8000 miles in just less than a month. It was awesome.

National harbor to Savannah Georgia and back.. over 1000 miles. Zero issues AND a fresh paint job and no clear bra...

I need a new paint job to be fair now...front bumper is just pitted to hell.

Well the paint job and headlight lenses are going to wear and tear, its the tip of the spear sort of speak so just take that as a expectation.

I drove from san diego-jacksonville,Fl in 2 1/2 days in my last m3. No spare oil/tires/coils and i made it there with no problems. One of the best times of my life.

Just completed a 1000mile road trip (weekend extradonair) going from Ft Collins, CO to Santa Fe, NM and back thru all the high country back roads! Ripped it the whole way!
