Default ZF-Power Steering Pumps Discontinued

As some of you may have noticed, oem power steering pump (32412227197) for most e36 m3 and z3 models have officially been discontinued.

Per FCP Euro, the pumps were supplied by ZF which had a joint venture with Bosch Gmbh to produce hydraulic steering racks for the automotive industry. Recently, ZF has broken away to pursue the electronic power steering rack segment, selling off the complete hydraulic steering rack segment of the market to Bosch gmbh. Even BMW has no insight on the next reproduction.

There's only a few remanufactured remaining stock at a few dealers and online retailers which now costs close to $500 for a unit (when they used to be $250)

For those who have working pumps now, keep the maintenance up to date on them! If there are leaks, reseal them before it gets worse! for me, the shaft had severe wear so it would not hold seal. Fortunately one of the online retailer had one remanufactured one left in stock.

Lets home someone remanufactures them besides ZF. If not there is a market opportunity for someone that is likely not limited to just old BMWs.

Good thing you fixed it before the mechanical parts got worn. For me the seal kit only sealed the leaks, I had some damage to the shaft and unfortunately they donít make individual parts for that

I'm seeing the same thing with ATE brake boosters and master cylinders.

I'm guessing this is just what happens when platforms age?

yup it gets worse when they hit 20 or 25 years after last production date.

if enough intrest in generated mobile tradition used to remake whatever parts people wanted. ive been out of the loop for awhile though.

and plenty of reman ones are available, I just googled with the part number, for example
General Ricambi
ERA Benelux
SPIDAN
LIZARTE
TRW

The seal kit is only for leak repairs, did already repair some pumps, not too difficult.
