Default Re: Where do I buy this M logo sticker

Per my rigorus google search of bimmerology, it's technically OK if and only IF you use the 3.148mm X 5.100002mm sticker made of .00001% polyethylene, and .00000015% carbon black..... and as we all know.... should have the requisite .011mm-.012mm of approved bmw adhesive

I say put what you like on your car, if it makes you happy

I'm so confused. How is putting an M3 badge on an under-hood part of an M3 at all the same as putting an M3 badge on a non-M3?

I mean, it's not 100% factory accurate, no, but it's by no means the same as being the poser that pretends his car is something it's not...

What pic are you looking at? I have no 5 series wheels, never owned a set, let alone ever had one on my car.

If that is the best you can think of, I rest my case.

I also have an E90 rearview mirror. By your (un)logic I am trying to mimic an E90.

If so, I'm certainly not trying to pretend my car is a Lightweight. I'm doing it because I think it has the best combination of form and function. It is a very nice piece and Rally Road does a very nice job manufacturing these (IMO).

Link for anyone interested.

Thanks.
Don't worry about it. I said it's your car and so you should do with it as you wish.

And this was never about replicating an LTW.

The RR strut well, I guess it's a glass half full/half empty thing, whether or not it's a nice replica or a blatant, near carbon-copy rip-off of the BMW Motorsport strutbar. It has all but the BMW p/n stamped on it. And the sticker.

Now if it had a RR badge in it, or "Rally Road" somewhere on it, at least it was obvious. But it's just trying hard to be something it is not. By adding the M badge, it only makes it worse.

If you can touch them, they're real.

OK. I get it and can appreciate your point. It is a tough boundary to figure out. There are a lot of add-ons that are basically copies of unobtainable originals (spoilers, wheels, trim pieces, upholstery fabric, etc. ). I can see where there is a point of overdoing it. I just figure I'm well below the line right now. But something to keep in mind. And, btw, I would have purchased an original if still available but, sadly no. Although I saw a used one for a ridiculous price recently Thanks.

Style 5's guy. Not an E36 wheel.

The RR bar has been updated (and improved) over the OEM bar that inspired it. It is very well-made and was created as a substitute for the NLA Motorsport bar. They are clearly not the same if use your eyes. And if you use common sense, it's actually nice that it was designed to look like it belongs. The threaded joints were also perfectly duplicated because people could not get replacements for their OEM bars.

I try to be against fake ones as often as I can.

^^
Near identical. Don’t worry, I can spot the differences.

Talking about the ability to see, my wheels are not BMW style 5 wheels. Not even close. Ironically, style 5’s are available in many offsets, including E36’s. Style 5’s are just as much a 3 series wheel as they are 5/7/8 series wheels.

P.P.S. I never once questioned the quality of the RR bar. That’s a whole different characteristic than how it looks. I don’t doubt it’s good.

This is not about using OEM parts of car X on car Y. I do that all the time, including Wes’ Z8 strutcaps.

This is about making something aftermarket looking like an OEM part.
