Car has every M3 mechanical and electronic component converted-- so yes, it has the LSD

You have to some day get that Supersprint muffler we had discussed. Should be able to free up some additional HP, while being on the quiet side also lighter then the heavy OEM muffler.

You were smart to retain that same e46 M3 X - resonator. Every little bit helps.
Chris did the work. That guy is a freaking genius, if you ever get him talking!

I called SS in Italy. They said the SS e36 S50B32 muffler is at the volume level of the SS's e46 M3 "sport" muffler-- which is more volume than I want for this car.

Yes, my friends have had Chris do work on their cars that many have said to be impossible. He truly is a genius, dedicated, and meticulous in his work. He is also super nice guy.

You have the US spec muffler or Euro Spec?

I was under the impression that the US spec exhaust piping diameter was 2.25" while the euro exhaust piping diameter was the same as the e46 at 2.36".

Have you ever checked out Chris's e39 540i? <3100 lbs, with full interior! And sealed OE monoballs everywhere, in place of bushings.

From people that know e36 M3's inside and out, the euro and US car are both 2.36" after the neck down point-- the US muffler is just narrower up front, where it meets the mids. I sure hope that's correct, or I'm going to regret not getting a euro muffler!

I have never seen that car personally but have talked to him about it. I remember back when I got my 540i, I asked him for pointers on what was worth doing on that car. Sadly, I have not seen him in years.

If Chris said that both mufflers are the same then that is right. He has forgotten more about BMW's then most people know. I was unsure about the mufflers but I know the US and Euro have different size exhaust piping. In the e36 M3 days that was a big upgrade with highly modded e36 M3's.

The Supersprint would have weight advantages over the OEM spec but if noise is an issue then it might not be worth it.

Why not just a custom muffler, sorry if I missed it?

Euro mufflers are different internally compared to US spec. I've had 3 and 2euro mufflers. All used.

The us mufflers kept coming loose internally (rattling) after a few km. Euro will last longer. Ended up buying a new euro 3.2 muffler which is different from the 3.0 internally.

I ran a euro decat SS mid sections tho, so that might have contributed in them breaking very easily.

So far no issues at 4,000km.

There isn't one that's quiet enough that fits. M54 is quiet compared to the s54-- so any muffler designed for that location for the m54 isn't nearly quiet enough (was stock volume levels).

Any power loss when you added the e36 rear? Reason I'm asking is because you went from 2.36 to 2.00 piping, plus have you ever seen the inside of the e36 M3 muffler? 4, 180* turns and the piping just before the tips actually necks down to 1.5"

I know this because I just open my muffler and took out the entire guts, and remade the muffler using 2.5" piping and peforated core pipe with stainless packing. The sound is very good and gave a nice "butt dyno" feel up top.

This is my thread here
