Civic, Corrola etc. They're cheap, replaceable and generally reliable anyway.

I grabbed a Jeep for $3000 for winter. It runs well enough, and if anything major goes wrong it was cheap enough to replace.

Being a Roadster, you may not be interested, but my DD is a 2006 Mazda MX-5 GT and over the last 50K miles, it has performed flawlessly!!! I'm actually giving it up to drive a M3 everyday, but have already warned my wife that there will be another MX-5 in the stable soon enough.

Can't say enough about the reliability of this car....and 32mpg!!!

I never really considered buying a DD but if I was to get something, it would probably be something like a civic or a camry.

I have changed my mind on a daily so many times but I have it narrowed down between another sport bike or some sort of SUV that can be lightly off-roaded and haul/tow stuff and be reliable.

Crazy talking about using a sport bike for a DD in Chicago but I figure I can count on riding it to and from work 3-4 days a week on average through 7-8 months a year. Have ridden for years up until I got my M3 so riding in light rain and such is not a huge issue with me. And getting 40mpg in something that can be had for 4-5k and not be a bore to me can't be had anywhere else. Biggest problem I have with this, it is pretty much regulating my M to adverse weather + weekend fun car. Biggest advantage is 40mpg on a 40 mile commute to and from work for $5k sounds amazing.

The SUV could be a nice daily and is usually a common match made for most weekend sports car owners because of the all-purposiveness of the vehicle. Gas mileage isn't great but set of cheap wheels and tires and a slight lift could make these a whole new kind of fun on the trails around here that the M3 doesn't offer and still be daily driven. Thinking Nissan Xterra or Toyota 4Runner here.

And of course the last option is just picking up like a used Honda Accord or something cheap and reliable and good on gas and just bore myself to and from work everyday and then appreciate my M that much more on the weekends.

I am not really looking to save money on gas mileage although I am not opposed to it, just looking to keep miles from racking up on my M3.

I went with an 09 Honda Civic 2 door. I was really amazed at how well the car handles, and feels on the road, it's pretty close to the M. Engine wise though, I popped the hood expecting to see hamsters on a running wheel, but it sips regular gas. I filled my M up with premium every week. I can go 2 weeks on my civic.

My daily, only issue is it gets half the gas mileage as the ///M on the highway :/
