Thanks! For the molding it's just spray on Plastidip, nothing special but it looks just like the OEM coating when dry. I wish I would've taken the time to scrape off all of the old molding though, which I will when I redo it another day.

No kidding! So did the cost of this build. Lol

Best part though, it’s an original 6 speed car too.

Awesome work on the paint. What an amazing transformation.

I think glass lights would definitely lift it even further. It made a huge difference on mine.

Thanks for the kind words everyone! This has definitely become more of a build than I ever intended. Small update, the S54 and 6 speed are sitting comfortably in my garage, and I've begun removing a few other assorted parts from the E46 donor.

For those interested in the details of the swap, it seems like it's relatively simple. I'm going with the Markert Motorworks swap harness which makes the swap plug and play, and should behave exactly like OEM. I'm also going with an M3 Evo passenger side motor mount, and S54 Z3M drivers side motor mount due to Vanos heat shielding and airbox mounting points. Other than that, I need the Z3M oil cooler to mount up to my Z3M radiator, and the fuel pump and regulator assemblies from the E46. I'll also be using the stock E46 exhaust section 1 and 2 mated up to my UUC cat back, and Active Autowerke headers.

The 6 speed swap is relatively simple as well, requiring a 6 speed swap shifter which I'll be sourcing from UUC, a Euro M3 trans crossmember, and a custom driveshaft. I might be rebuilding/shortening my stock driveshaft, or I may get a 328i Auto driveshaft and have a custom spacer made to get more spline contact in the trans. Haven't decided that far yet, but I'll keep everyone updated to what I decide.

I'm pretty certain I'm going to source a 3.91 LSD just for the heck of it, a useless 1st gear sounds like a whole lot of fun since the rear crossmember will be out of the car being rebuilt and reinforced to handle the extra power

Thanks! The E28 has moved on and now lives in Kansas, the new owner has really brought some new life into it. If all goes to plan, we are going to be dropping my S52 and ZF trans from my car into an E36 compact for her next toy.

regarding your interior. did you source new covers or did you simply patch up and dye sections of the old one? either way that's an excellent job you did!

It's amazing how straight forward you have it, not being in California.
