Default SMG to 6spd -- any shifting issues???

I am thinking about buying an SMG and converting it to a manual.
For those that have done it, what happened to the detentant/spring that makes the shift into reverse & 5th/6th feel different from the 1/2/3/4 shifts?

Secondly, how were the syncros... Were they in good shape having been computer changed?
