Default Depo smoked tailight fitment issue

Hello everyone. Maybe somebody can shine some light. I just installed some depo smoked rear tail lights on my 98 m3 sedan. Is the black part on top of the light suppose to be flush with the body with no gap? The top hook that contours to the side. Maybe someone can chime in. Thanks

The tail light are different for Coupes and Sedans, this could be your problem.

Fitment, though I don’t know how different they are.
They may have shipped the wrong parts.
Did you validate part number cross reference for application?

www.realoem.com, E36 is in “Classic” catalog.

The black plastic trim on top does not sit flush with the body.

Sedan lighta are 150% the height of coupe/cabrio lights and around 90% their width.

You will instantly know if you have the wrong model.

Depo will never fit as well as OEM.

They definitely don't fit as well as OEM, but it's not really noticeable unless you are inspecting them closely (or an M3forum regular).
Pics of OEM Ambers, Depo clears and Depo smoked...

Here’s some light; buy cheap aftermarket parts, expect garbage fitment. Depo is trash, you got what you paid for.

Buy OEM, that’s it.
