An E46 M3 and a 911 make good garage buddies

If I ever decided to move on from my M3, it would definitely be for something like an LMB e39 M5 or an s54 Z3M Coupe. A first gen MR2 does kind of tug at my heartstrings a little

I moved on from 2 M3s (LSB coupe and CBM vert) but recently added a LSG coupe back. My others are E60 M5 6MT, E34 M5, and E34 touring. They all serve different purposes but basically I collect BMWs.

If youre looking for a fun sedan, M5 is soooo much fun, yet comfy and refined. Love the growl of an E39 M5 as well.

If you want the e46 M3 experience but more (faster/lighter/more feelsome), I feel like the only place to go is GT3. But, that comes with much higher running costs and decreased practicality (in addition to the higher buy in price).

If you want different experiences, better to add cars to the fleet than replace the car. I'm solidly in this camp, at this point.

I had my E46 M3 since 25K miles 11y ago, still have it, tried many things in the meantime. Wouldn't trade it for a 996 GT3, but would be OK to ADD (not to sell the M//) a 997.2 GT3 (a very loveable car) ... however I bought a second E46 M3 and I have too many cars, so no Porsche .... I am too deep in the M....

Thank you Ian, you make me feel a lot better with my recent non E46 purchase...

Most of what ive read seems to follow the trend of M >911, though not necessarily selling one for the other. If you can swing both, i cant imagine you could possibly feel bad about it.

Like the majority here, the next car for me will be a Porsche. Hopefully a GT3. Ideally a GT3RS if I can wing the upkeep when the time comes.
